Update from the Guide to Chodosh

Just a brief progress report. The harvest of all Chodosh crops in the USA
has begun as of the week ending Jul 29. As of Aug 5, the US Dept of
Agriculture reports the following percentages of the Chodosh crops being
harvested:
Spring wheat=10%
Barley=8%
Oats=41%

Several things should be kept in mind.
1) I do not believe that any Chodosh is yet available on the local consumer
level.
2) Freshly baked bakery products sold in the Mid West can start becoming
Chodosh in a week or two.
3) Even though almost half of all the oats have already been harvested, but
many major oats cereal manufacturers now use only Canadian oats, which
becomes Chodosh as late as September.

Over the next few days I hope to start contacting specific Chodosh
producers. Until then I do not have yet any specific company-related
information. As new information becomes available, I will (bli neder)
disseminate it to this E mail list and by voice recording on the News
section of the Hot Line (845-356-5743.)
