SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR THOSE LIVING AWAY FROM THE METROPOLITAN NEW YORK AREA
YOU C-A-N HAVE YOSHON BAKERIES EVEN OUT OF TOWN-HERE IS HOW

With the help of H-shem the Metropolitan New York area now has a very large
number of Yoshon bakeries, pizza shops, etc. This is to a large extent made
possible by the availability of Yoshon bakery flour, under the hashgocho of
the O-U. However, in out-of-town locations, away from New York, this flour
has not always been available. Therefore, the Yoshon consumers there have
had difficulty obtaining freshly baked Yoshon products. Now a new method
had been discovered by Rabbi Manish Spitz of Miami Beach. This method may
allow Yoshon flour to be delivered to bakeries and other establishments in
many cities throughout the USA. It certainly allowed Yoshon baking in Miami
Beach this past season.

Many out-of-town kosher groceries receive shipments of kosher grocery
products from the New York area on a regular basis. This often includes
fresh dairy products, and packaged goods. Rabbi Spitz's idea was to include
the Yoshon bakery flour with the shipments that are being sent from New
York anyhow. The additional shipping costs should be very small and the
flour can be delivered at the same frequency as the grocery products. I
have spoken to the two major distributors of Yoshon flour, Dependable Foods
and Duso. Dependable would help to arrange for such shipments to cities
anywhere in the USA. In addition to Yoshon bakery bread flour in 100 pound
bags, Dependable could send to your groceries, the same high-gluten flour
in small brown bags of 5 and 6 pound size. This would help housewives to
make very good challehs. Duso would deliver to any grocery shipping
location that leaves from the New York area. I also spoke to Quality Foods
that delivers groceries and would gladly include the Yoshon flour with each
shipment. I am sure other grocery shippers would be equally cooperative.

Now, before the Chodosh season begins, is the time for those of you who
live out of town to act. Here is what you should do. Speak to your local
kosher bakeries and pizza shops and try to convince them to make Yoshon
next season. They would have to get together with the local groceries to
arrange for their flour to be included in the grocery shipments. The
bakeries should also contact one of the flour distributors to reserve the
flour NOW and to get price information. The telephone number of Dependable
is (toll free) 877-488-7055, ask for Sholom Blau at extension 105. For
Duso, call 800-582-4770. There I spoke about this to Yaakov Leiser.

If there is anything I can do to facilitate this process, please let me
know by E mail or the Hot Line (845-356-5743). Do not delay. NOW IS THE
TIME TO ACT.

If you do succeed in making these arrangements, please forward to me the
names of your local establishments that will be producing Yoshon so that I
can include their names in the next Guide to Chodosh.

Best wishes for a good summer.

Yoseph Herman
