THE FOLLOWING AS OF 29 OCT 00

General Mills oats cereals. The oats are Yoshon at least up to a packing date
of Nov. 6, maybe later.

Goya barley Chodosh date is EARLIER than predicted in the Guide, it is Oct, 16,
code 029000 (0=not important, 290=day of the year, 00=year).

Kinneret, Kosherrific frozen foods, we still have not succeeded in getting any
information. Therefore these can not be recommended as Yoshon at this time.

Vittaroz barley, we still have not succeeded in getting any information.
Therefore this can not be recommended as Yoshon at this time.

General Mills Captain Crunch cereal. The date on the package is 9 months after
packing.

Oronoque frozen pie crusts, the probable Chodosh packing date is Aug 25. The
new code is 159 02580 (159 not important, for 0258, the 0 and 8 combine to
08=Aug, the middle 25 is the day of the month, the 0 the follows =2000, the
year.)

Smilowitz Bakery, 325 Rutledge St. Brooklyn. All products are Yoshon, including
the C&L frozen kishke. No hashgocho for Yoshon.

may be Chodosh.

Pillsbury flours are mentioned in Sections 3.8B and 3.9B of the Guide. However,
the interpretation of the code was left out of the Guide. A dating code of
I0S07 would be Sept 7, 00 (I=Sept in alph order, 0=year, S=factory, 07=date.)

The dating codes used by Geffen and Ungar barley are not understood at this
time. We hope to find out how they work shortly.

CHODOSH UPDATE 27 Sept 00

Clarification about Kemach products. The Kemach regular white baking flour is
always Yoshon. The Kemach high gluten flour in 5 pound bags is also always
Yoshon with or without the Yoshon label. However, the high gluten flour in 6
pound green and yellow bags are Yoshon at this time but that may change in the
near future. Regarding Kemach cereals in Section 3.11A of the Guide, a
correction: the malt may become Chodosh as early as Jan. 1, 01. More updates
about the malt later. In Section 3.5A it states that Kemach egg noodles are
Yoshon if purchased up to Jan 31, 2000. That purchase cutoff date should have
been Jan 31, 2001.

OTHER ADDITIONS AND CORRECTIONS TO THE GUIDE

WARNING Quaker Oats Company oats Chodosh date is stated in the Guide as Sept 1.
In fact it is EARLIER, as of Aug 14.

WARNING: Apparently some people are not noticing that Ceresota and Heckers
white flours, which were from 100% winter wheat for many years are both from
30% spring wheat this year, as printed in the Guide.

WARNING: Vitarroz Barley is stated in the Guide as being Yoshon all season.
This was true for many years. This year, our many efforts to confirm this
information were not successful. Therefore, we can not recommend the purchase
of Vitarroz barley after the probable Chodosh date of Oct 23.

The following brands of barley all are packed by the same company and follow
the same rules. The tentative Chodosh packing date is Nov 1, as printed in the
Guide. However, this is subject to change. Check the Hot Line for any changes.
The date on the package is one year after packing for all factories except
factory L. For factory L, the date is 14 months after packing. Therefore, for
Nov 1, the code from factory L would be like Jan 1, 2002.L. This holds for
barley brands: Benco, Trinidad, Geffen, Jack Rabbit, Pathmark, Peak, Tender
Cook, Unger.

General Mills Oats, the new Chodosh packing date is Oct 9.

Lieber products: All cereals Yoshon to a purchase date of Dec 31. Oatmeal
cookies to Nov 20. The following Yoshon all year: bread crumbs, cake mixes,
cookie mixes, Dainties mixes.

Pizza Pious has a second location: 18 East Park Ave., Long Beach NY. Has Yoshon

Kinneret and Kosherrific frozen products. The company has not responded to our
repeated inquires for information. Therefore, we can not recommend any of their
products as Yoshon at this time.

Corrected telephone numbers: For Section 4.13A and B, England. The new number
from the USA to Rabbi Meir Posen is 011-020-8-800-5380. For Dayan Berkovits
011-44-181-2-2-2263. For Section 4.14 A and B, Switzerland, Rabbi B. Posen,
011-4141-3207403.

Nabisco Shredded wheat, the company name changed to Post. It is still from
winter wheat.

Post wheat cereals have listed a probable wheat Chodosh date of Sept 2. The
sample code for this date was printed in error it should be Sept 2, 2002.

Caravan Dough conditioners have a probable Chodosh packing date of Sept 8. The
code given was incorrect. It should have been 1I08160 (1 not important, I=Sept
in alph order, 08=day, 16 not important, 0=year.)

King Arthur flour code may have changed so that the packing date of Aug 25 may
now be coded as 08250 (08=Aug, 25=day, 0=year).
